Nichijou

I've decided to start with a newer series that was aired in Japan starting spring of 2011. Nichijou is likely to be one of those shows that people will love or hate depending on your outlook on weird anime. This anime was to be licensed by Bandai, but canceled its release of the anime and manga. For those like myself who don't know much about Japanese, Nichijou basically translates to My Everyday Life.

First Episode Impressions: When I watched the first episode about a year ago during the spring of 2011, I believed this anime was going to be a gem in the gag comedy genre. The concept of this anime is that it is the every day life of the people within a small town. Except in the anime, a every day life is dependent on the most random occurrences such as raining salmon, explosions that have no point, a unlucky idiot, a robot with a giant key on her back, and the child professor who made the robot. Within this anime all of these occurrence are considered to be normal everyday occurrence. Rather then a normal story driven anime, this one takes a approach vary similar to current day four panel mangas. As a result of this style of anime, they are able to introduce a large number of characters and give them a back story and reaction to other characters in the anime. Though most of the action revolves around the primary 6-8 charicters. I believe the most remarkable thing about this anime is that they bring out the true esence of four panel manga style manga by setting up the situation, delivering the punchline and bring out the retort that punchline.

**spoiler alert** For example, in the first episode the robot asks the professor to remove the key from her back. The professor objects and then the robot asks what the key is for. The professor then take a hold of the key and turns it. The result is that the robots big toe shoots out, hits the wall and reveals that its a USB flash drive. The robot then ask if that is all the key is for, and the professor states that it is, and finally the robot tells the professor to remove it.**spoiler alert end**

Now for the scores
Art: 10
I have given high scores because of the unique color pallet and style that follows with the story. I believe that the art style fits perfectly with its upbeat humor, random events and even the silent parts that emphasis the tension.

Music: 9
The Openings and Endings have done a good job at showing what characters are in the show and the music that goes along with those intros and endings fits well with the style of the art and genre of Nichijou. As for the sound track, the music is often upbeat and fast moving in the same manner as the anime.

Character design: 10
Out of all of the anime i have watched over the years, I've noticed that in most cases the more characters you add, the lower the quality of character design is. Basically the primary characters and all secondary characters often have seem to have a good back story but the stories are quickly dismissed. In Nichijou on the other hand, each person is strategically in place and each have their own story and personality. They are all easy to relate to and fun to watch as they react to each other and their environment.

Story:8
Despite its score, it has a perfect delivery of telling the story, but it is docked points because its story doesn't really exist. Rather since it is a four panel story it doesn't really need an actual story to be good, it just needs to be funny in each scene and that is where it is actually perfect at what it does.

Overall: 10
This is one of the few anime's that i think deserve a perfect score for their genre. I highly recommend this 26 episode anime to anyone with a sence of humor or at the vary least likes weird anime.

The Launch of Yet another Anime/Manga Blog

Hello world, I am The Hunter King and my goal here is to review my favorite pass time,  anime and manga. There are likely many blogs like this but the primary difference is the sheer amount of anime and manga I have watched and read. I have beliefs about where the American anime/manga industry should be going and how it would stop the piracy of their product. Despite my name I am not arrogant, benevolent, or believe my word is law. For the most part I am a modest guy that loves anime, manga, video games and everything technology. I believe myself to be a major American Otaku who has finally decided to share his opinion on his beloved past time. As such I welcome discussion and would like to hear your opinions on my reviews and what your own opinions are on what ever I review. It is also important to note that i will not in the course of my blog review any long running anime/manga unless the end. This is because I believe that if I have to watch an anime or read a manga, I would like to only focus on ones that have been completed if possible. Though I may make a recommendations for less mainstream manga's or ones that I believe will be high ranked by me.
